Mississippi, 1937. Three convicts escape from a jail chain-gang intent on getting to the loot stashed away by one of them. But the stash is in a house that will be flooded by a new dam, so, speed is of the essence. They find themselves fast-talking their way out of one jam after another, including a group of riverside sirens, but they do get to make a pretty good country record. This Coen Bros. take on Homer's Odyssey features George Clooney, John Turturro, John Goodman and a Grammy-winning folk soundtrack.
