Josh Brolin stars as Eddie Mannix, the studio fixer for Capitol Pictures and wrangler of difficult movie stars. When his star actor is kidnapped, he must marshal the studio's resources to effect a rescue, staying one step ahead of the Communists. The Coen Brothers' gentlest offering, this atmospheric love letter to old Hollywood can be read as a send-up to Ben Hur or an allegory to the Temptation of Christ. Either way, it's an approachable and family-friendly introduction to the Coen oeuvre. The all-star cast includes George Clooney, Channing Tatum, and Scarlett Johansson.
