Directed by: Charles Chaplin
With Charlie Chaplin, Virginia Cherrill, Florence Lee
In his first film made during the sound era (though still essentially a silent), Charlie Chaplin’s “Little Tramp” falls for a beautiful, blind flower seller on a street corner, who mistakes him for his millionaire acquaintance. Determined to help her and her grandmother avoid eviction, he ricochets through odd jobs in an effort to scrape together enough money. What follows is a heartwarming slapstick masterpiece of the Tramp’s pursuit to make good on his promise.
