Mission Disconnect Tech is dedicated to addressing the challenges posed by the recent and widespread integration of technology into our daily lives. Regardless of background, nearly everyone has experienced the effects of technology, both positive and negative. The overuse of screens can have far-reaching consequences, from diminished face-to-face communication skills to weakened interpersonal connections, as well as anxiety, depression, and reduced productivity. We are not an anti-technology organization. We emphasize the importance of balance and intentional use of technology to prevent it from undermining the quality of life. Our mission is to help college students—who struggle with unhealthy screen time habits and the negative effects that arise from overuse. We focus on raising awareness about how excessive technology use impacts personal well-being, relationships, and communication through workshops, discussions, and community events. Our organization is dedicated to promoting mindful tech usage and cultivating healthy habits.Disconnect Tech is a movement. What we are is written in our name. To reconnect to what matters most, we must first disconnect.
Membership BenefitsDisconnect Tech offers its members a supportive community focused on fostering healthier relationships with technology. We provide opportunities for members to participate in fun, tech-free social events, such as game nights, pizza nights, and outdoor activities, where the focus is on connecting face-to-face without distractions. Members are encouraged to take part in our screen time reduction challenges to become more mindful of their tech habits. Our communications include regular email updates, reminders about upcoming events, and useful tips for reducing screen time and improving digital well-being. We are in talks to find an organization on and off campus that can help or sponsor our club to challenge college students around the school to use less screen time. the student with the least amount of screen time would win a prize that may be charity-based or more.
