Alka Gupta is a public company board director, former tech exec and entrepreneur with deep experience in fintech, marketplaces, regtech, identity, and compliance with an increased focus on inclusion. She has had the fortune of being at the beginning of some of the most significant disruptions and platforms including search, ecommerce, mobile, payments, and blockchain at both early stage and public companies. She has operated and built revenue in B2B and B2C market across more ten countries in Asia, Europe, and Latin America building an understanding of internationalization and localization success strategies and tactics.
Alka Gupta was most recently Venture Partner at Fin Capital, a $1B global fintech B2B focused fund, where she focused on innovation, cybersecurity, payments, and regtech. Previously, she was Co-Founder and President of GlobaliD, a venture backed, portable, and interoperable identity platform leveraging the blockchain with early crypto and digital wallet customers. Earlier, Alka was at eBay/PayPal (Nasdaq: EBAY) as head of strategy for eBay Marketplaces during a period of significant mobile and cross border commerce growth. Her first forray into starts ups was with Norwest funded Retrevo, ecommerce business focused on consumer electronics experience acquired by Barnes and Noble, as head of Business Development. At Lycos (Nasdaq: LCOS; Acq.: Telefonica), she was General Manager of a global suite of products and later as VP of Corp Development and Strategy during which time the company grew revenue from $50M to $800M over four years and grew users by >300%.
Alka Gupta is committed to democratization of access and empowering populations via technology. She is a Board Director at National Bank Holdings Corp (NYSE: NBHC, Risk Committee and Compensation Committee,) Dwolla Payments (USV and Foundry Ventures,) and Digital Frontiers (Chair of Board.) She is also Board Advisor at Berkeley SkyDeck and Women in Identity and former Board Director at MoneyGram (Nasdaq: MGI, Compliance and Ethics Committee, sold to Madison Dearborn Partners.) She is a regular speaker on digital transformation, fintech, and blockchain and spend time as a Mentor at Stanford’s StartX and Expert in Resident at The Wharton School’s Venture Lab.
