Sears think[box]: More than a Makerspace

Members of the Case Western Reserve University community are invited to attend this session to hear from faculty, staff and students who are using Sears think[box] to innovate. Housed in an iconic seven-story, 50,000-square-foot facility, Sears think[box] is a world-class innovation center, makerspace and entrepreneurship ecosystem that welcomes thousands of visitors each month. Sears think[box] brings together resources for venture creation and entrepreneurship under one roof. Whether you’re looking for prototyping and fabrication equipment, space to brainstorm, legal and business support to commercialize intellectual property, or guidance to create market-ready products with real-world impact, our team at think[box] can help. Attend this session to hear how think[box] has helped ideas become a reality. This session will be moderated by Ian Charnas, Director of Innovation and Technology, Sears think[box].

• Digital Anatomy Printed Newborn Torsos for Catheter Training for Med Students: Dr. Allison Payne, instructor in Pediatrics at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and a neonatologist in the Division of Neonatology and Perinatal Medicine at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and Lake Hospitals, Willoughby and Painesville, Ohio.
• Faculty Startup Company - RoadPrintz, which uses robots to survey, map, paint, and repaint street markings: Dr. Wyatt Newman, emeritus professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering, Case School of Engineering at Case Western Reserve University.
• Think[box] as a Living Lab, and Satellite Office for CWRU Institute: Nick Barendt, Executive Director of the Institute for Smart, Secure and Connected Systems (ISAACS), Co-Executive Director of the IoT Collaborative, Director of Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center (SMIC), and Adjunct Senior Instructor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Case Western Reserve University.
• 3D-scanning and 3D-Printing in the Conservation and Study of Art: Dr. Elina Gertsman, Distinguished University Professor and Professor of Art History in the Department of Art History and Art in the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University. 
• Immersive Learning through the Integration of think[box] into Architecture Courses: Sally Levine, AIA, LEED AP, ,instructor in the Department of Art History and Art in the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University.
• Think[box] as a Launchpoint for Community Outreach Projects: Rachael Sommer, Director of Operations and Partnerships, Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences, Mary Ann Swetland Center for Environmental Health, School of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University, will be presenting on the Swetland Center's use of think[box].
• Student Startup 1 - CLEANR, Inc and their vision to radically reduce the amount of microplastics that end up in our water supply: Max Pennington, a CWRU alumnus (Chemical Engineering), Co-Founder and CEO of CLEANR.
• Student Startup 2 - 3D Music, Inc. and their vision to use FDM to create musical instruments for the Education Market: Matthew Canel, CWRU alumnus and Co-Founder of 3D Music, will be presenting on his startup.
