Members of the CWRU community are invited to take part in Sustained Dialogue's Fall 2021 Day of Dialogue, including a campus-wide discussion on the challenges and opportunities we face returning to campus (morning), and a variety of dialogue groups and topics in the afternoon. Come to share your thoughts, gain empathy for others, and learn more about the Sustained Dialogue program at CWRU!

Day of Dialogue Discussion - The Role of Free Speech Today

Free speech and civility have taken on new dimensions in light of the current polarization and extremism gripping our country. What does it mean for a university to promote free speech when more groups are openly espousing views that denigrate specific identity groups and promote exclusion? This session will explore what it means to promote civic education in this context.

Day of Dialogue Discussion - Creating a Safe Space for Discussion of Anti-Asian Hate Crimes

Last Spring, over 35 different CWRU offices, departments and organizations joined together to issue a statement of support for the Asian community, condemning the rise in hate crimes here in Cleveland and across the country. This session will focus on the ongoing difficulty of discussing Anti-Asian crime and how to make the conversations count. Moderated by Siu Yan Scott.
