Site Information:  Seeds of Literacy is a non-profit organization that provides FREE basic education to adults in the Cleveland area, working to break a root cause of poverty: illiteracy.

Service Information: Volunteers will assist adults with high school coursework as they work towards completing their GED. High school level math tutoring skills are particularly beneficial, and the organization is also in need of Spanish-speaking volunteers.

Time Commitment: This site requires a weekly commitment for one semester and takes place on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, which includes transportation time. Transportation is provided and the activity is led by a CCEL Student Leader. Registered students will volunteer every Tuesday from February 3 through April 21. No volunteer session on March 10. January 27 session canceled due to weather.

Pre-Service Requirement:  New volunteers are required to attend a mandatory virtual training on Monday, January 26, from 6-8 pm. Registered volunteers will receive more information soon, but please do not register for this activity as a new volunteer unless you can also commit to this training time.

Waiting List: If you are interested in volunteering weekly with this service activity but the registration is full, you may join the wait list by emailing sxc1207@case.edu. Please make sure you note which activity you want to join the wait list for in your email.

Accessibility: CCEL is committed to providing all students with opportunities to take full advantage of our programs. Our staff recognizes that students with documented disabilities may require reasonable accommodations in order to achieve this objective. If you are interested in taking part in a specific project but have questions related to accommodations and/or the accessibility of a site, please contact the office of Disability Resources (216.368.5230 or disability@case.edu), and they will work with a representative from our office to answer your questions.
