This interactive workshop explores how writing instructors can help students adapt and apply rhetorical knowledge across diverse communicative contexts, modes, and genres through thoughtfully designed assignments. Drawing on her forthcoming co-edited collection, Multimodal Transfer Pedagogy: Applications for Instruction, Dr. Kara Poe Alexander will share practical strategies and classroom-tested assignments for fostering multimodal transfer. She will also discuss how multimodal pedagogy can sustain human-centered writing instruction as new technologies reshape the field. Participants will work through sample assignments, consider the role of reflection in multimodal transfer, and draft or adapt an assignment for their own courses.
