About Us
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry defines special healthcare needs as "any physical, development, mental, sensory, behavioral, cognitive or emotional impairment or limiting condition that requires medical management, healthcare intervention, and/or use of specialized services or programs." The Special Care Dentistry Club seeks to provide dental students of Case Western Reserve University valuable experiences of working with people with special needs by offering increased awareness, attention, adaptation and education on accommodating measures beyond routine treatment. Moreover, this organization intends to provide dental education and oral health screenings to those with disabilities, together bridging the gap between patient and provider.
