Join Siegal Lifelong Learning for an in-person breakfast and lecture with R. Benjamin Gorham, Research Data and GIS Specialist.

Archaeology is all about the past. But new tools and methods are constantly being deployed to revolutionize our output and impact. This talk by a classical archaeologist and digital scholarship specialist presents case studies where digital scholarship tools are changing the way we interact with and understand the remains of the ancient world. We will discuss how applications of Geographic Information Systems, drones, and virtual reality modernized the excavations at Morgantina , Sicily, how we use photogammetry to visualize in 3D the buried aqueducts of Trajan, and how network analysis reveals invisible landscapes of Ostia Antica’s cultic and funerary environment.

10–10:30 a.m. Light breakfast and coffee served for in-person attendees
