The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a not-for-profit educational and service organization with the mission of empowering women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering and recognizing them for their life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders. Our events are open to anyone on campus. SWE sponsors a variety of events, including service and social events, monthly meetings, mentorship programs, and opportunities for professional networking and development.
SWE provides the opportunity for female engineers to join a national network of current students and alumni working in both industry and research. Members are invited to attend the SWE National Conference every year, which hosts a number of talks by distinguished professional and one of the nation's largest engineering career fairs. SWE also offers a support system within the CWRU community where members can receive advice and help from older members in classwork and course selection. Finally, SWE strives to help build confidence in female engineers and provide them with the tools needed to enter industry or research post-graduation.
