think[box] Derby: Build-a-Derby Car Workshop Woodworking Edition

This session focuses on shaping and customizing wooden derby car bodies.

Participants can work from basswood blanks (a standard and easy-to-shape option, though not required) and use a variety of woodworking tools including miter saws, rotary tools, hand tools, and other shop essentials to cut, carve, and refine their design. A think[box] staff member will be present throughout the session to supervise and provide support.

Want a more dramatic shape? After you finalize your design on paper, a technician will take small groups to the 4th floor to use the bandsaw. Once finished, you’ll return to the 2nd floor to continue sanding, shaping, and detailing while others take their turn.

This workshop is perfect for participants who want a classic, hands-on build experience and full control over the form of their car!

This workshop is free and open to all ages. Materials provided at sign-in table during workshop.
