As an Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) at Case Western Reserve University's Veale Institute for Entrepreneurship, Neil Friery brings a diverse background spanning across five verticals (Medical Devices, Measurement/Analytical Solutions, Specialty Chemicals, Professional Services and Not for Profit).  Currently, Neil serves as the President of Alpha Technologies.  Alpha Technologies is the world’s leader in the design and manufacture of instruments and software that deliver advanced precision rubber and elastomeric materials analysis for production optimization and product compliance. Alpha Technologies, a Roper Technologies company (NYSE: ROP), improves and enables our customer’s product performance, value, and safety across the Automotive, Aerospace, Energy, Medical and Safety industries. In this role, Neil is responsible for the strategic direction of the enterprise including product development, business development, manufacturing, quality and regulatory as well as sales and marketing strategy and execution.

Prior to joining Alpha Technologies, Neil served as Senior Vice President/General Manager of the Surgical Division at Zimmer Biomet, a Fortune 500 Company and the world's leading orthopedic organization. During his tenure at Zimmer Biomet Surgical, Neil oversaw all functional aspects of the organization and led the division to $400M in revenue.  Neil presided over Surgical’s build-out of a direct sales force, several new product launches, as well as ten strategic acquisitions and distribution agreements resulting in over $200M in revenue growth. Prior to his appointment as Senior Vice President/General Manager, Neil was the Director of Finance for the Surgical Division. In this capacity, Neil was responsible for the global accounting and finance organization of Surgical.

After graduating from the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in business administration (accountancy), Neil started his career at Ernst & Young, LLP in 1999 where he became a certified public accountant (CPA – inactive).  Neil joined the corporate finance team of OM Group, Inc., a NYSE listed specialty chemicals company in 2002. Neil held various roles of increasing responsibility throughout his tenure including controller of the $200M Electronic Chemicals business unit.

Currently, Neil also serves on the Board of Directors of the West Side Catholic Center (WSCC) which is an organization that offers hot meals, hospitality, clothing, household goods, emergency services, advocacy, a women and children's shelter and a housing solutions program to those in need at no charge, regardless of religious affiliation. Neil also serves on the WSCC’s Finance Committee as well as Ohio City Pizzeria (OCP) Committee. The OCP was established in 2019 as a social enterprise and through its unique partnership with the WSCC, the OCP provides on-the-job training for those seeking essential work skills. The OCP also serves as a source of funding to help the WSCC fulfill its mission: to serve people in need of food, clothing, shelter, advocacy and a path to self-sufficiency.
