In this talk, Kinitra D. Brooks, the Audrey and John Leslie Endowed Chair in Literary Studies at Michigan State University, will explore how enslaved Black women used herbal and spiritual knowledge gleaned from Conjure practices to poison their enslavers in antebellum Southern Louisiana.
