Join AMSA for a hands-on evening focused on health and cultural disparities in medicine. This event combines a discussion-based speaker session, a community service packing activity, and a fun, competitive Kahoot to tie everything together.
Dinner will be catered by Saffron Patch, and the packing event will take place during dinner. We’ll be assembling hygiene kits with essential items like soap, deodorant, and toothpaste, directly supporting members of the local community.
Our guest speaker will be joined by two students she has been working with, offering multiple perspectives on disparities in healthcare. The discussion will center around what actually drives health and cultural disparities, and how they show up in real clinical and community settings.
To wrap things up, we’ll run a Kahoot (about 20–30 questions) themed around disparities in medicine. There will be prizes for the Kahoot and a raffle for anyone to enter.
We’re continuing to solicit additional support for supplies and prizes, and will also be doing class outreach. This event is eligible for Math 122 extra credit and counts for 3 hours of CCEL Scholars credit.
