Benjamin Fernades is the first Tanzanian to attend Stanford Graduate School of Business as an Africa MBA Fellow. He founded NALA, a Tanzanian digital financial services platform that enables people to access their financial accounts in one application while allowing them to make mobile money payments offline (internet-free), where he currently serves as CEO.
Bernice Fernandes is a leading business consultant and entrepreneur in Tanzania. She is a qualified MBA consultant has done consulting work in Germany, the US, and Tanzania. Her mission is to help individuals, organizations, and corporations discover their strengths and release the capabilities within them.
This conversation will be facilitated by Case Western Reserve University Alumna Ivy Petsinger ('18), BS in Chemical Engineering who recently returned to the US after nearly two years in the Peace Corps in Tanzania.

Benjamin Fernandes is a Tanzanian entrepreneur and former national television presenter. He worked at The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in the United States in their Digital Team and Financial Services team. He is the first Tanzanian to attend Stanford Graduate School of Business as an Africa MBA Fellow and the youngest African to ever be accepted to Stanford Graduate School of Business. In 2017, Fernandes became the first Tanzanian in history to attend both Stanford Graduate School of Business and Harvard John F. Kennedy School of Government for an executive education program.
Fernandes is the Founder and CEO of NALA, a Tanzanian digital financial services platform. that enables people to access their financial accounts in one application while allowing them to make mobile money payments offline (internet-free). NALA has since expanded and now operates in Uganda and Tanzania.

Bernice was raised in Tanzania, studied in the US, and Germany. She holds three professional financial and business degrees, including an MBA in Entrepreneurship (Honors), Masters of Science in International Business (Honors) and Bachelors of Science in Finance and Media. Her specializations are in: Human Centered Design, Organizational Behavior & Development, Branding, Marketing, Product Innovations, Startup Solutions, and Financial Analysis. She has worked with multiple industries ranging from Telecommunications, Internet, Education, Media, Communications, Agencies, Manufacturing, Small Medium Enterprises to Large Corporations and various other industries.
Bernice has won multiple awards in Case Consulting projects and Entrepreneurial competitions in the United States and Germany. She is naturally driven by excellence and delivers results exceeding expectations.
