Greek Life Equity Training
"Message from the Director:
Many of you are aware of the Department of Justice Agreement that the university signed back in August 2023. While the agreement requires changes and adjustments across the university, there are specific elements related to the Greek Life community that we need to conduct. One such component is a live training to every Greek chapter member during the spring 2024 semester. In conjunction with the Office of General Counsel, Office of Equity, and the Office of Greek Life, three training dates and options have been scheduled. These dates, times and locations are as follows:
ALL MEMBERS must attend one of these sessions. Please note that there is a limit on how many people can attend each session so registration is on a first come first serve basis. Members must individually register on CampusGroups for one of the sessions. If you do not register in advance you will not be able to show up last minute. I understand that the first date is less than a week away but after consulting the Greek Life calendar, the university calendar, and other known events these three dates are the only options we have to fulfill the requirement. I ask that each of you be flexible and encourage each other to sign up quickly.
If you have any questions you can reach to James via his email, jws149@case.edu."
Office of Equity
The Office of Equity’s work can seem mystifying if you’re unfamiliar. But it all boils down to one thing: support. All members of the Case Western Reserve University community are covered by the Office of Equity, which supports anyone on campus impacted by any type of discrimination—this includes discrimination on the basis of race, national origin, ethnicity, age, gender, sex, religion or any other legally protected class status.
No one is required to engage with the Office of Equity to receive support, but the staff is available for those who want it, including those who have been accused of violating a policy. Some individuals are not seeking support, but instead want to simply ensure there is a record of something that happened in case a future situation arises.
If you would like support from the Office of Equity, there are several ways you can get in touch. Call 216.368.3066 or email equity@case.edu to request a same-day appointment. If you need assistance with an urgent after-hours matter, call or text 216.327.4160 or email rachel.lutner@case.edu.
