Tax Deadline Extended to July 15, 2020
Sprintax Still Available to Help You File
If you haven’t filed your taxes for 2019 yet, it’s not too late. ISS makes Sprintax available to help you.
Sprintax is a tax-return-preparation software program designed primarily for international students and other educational visa holders. It can help you prepare your U.S. federal income tax return and assist you in preparing Form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ.
You may access Sprintax and begin preparing your tax return by following these steps:
Enter Case Western Reserve University’s unique code. This code was sent to you via email on February 12.
Sprintax will prepare your tax return
If Sprintax determines that you are required to file state taxes, you will have the opportunity to prepare those state taxes. You are not required to use Sprintax to file state taxes but, remember, it is your responsibility to comply with the law and properly file all taxes.
If you have any questions, the Sprintax team will be happy to help via their 24/7 live chat facility.
In response to the effects of COVID-19 and the cancellation of many onsite tax support services, Sprintax is also offering this 35 minute tax webinar, which explains the core tax obligations for international students. Record Your Words of Encouragement for Campus Community
Now more than ever, it’s important to connect as a Case Western Reserve community. So we are looking for 15- to 30-second videos from faculty, staff, alumni or even students featuring messages of positivity and encouragement—to our students, but also to all members of our campus community.
Participation is easy—and quick. Simply:
Film a vertical video for Instagram stories.
Keep your video short and sweet; no more than 30 seconds.
Include your name, title and department or affiliation.
Interested, but need a little assistance? Email socialmedia@case.edu and our social media manager will be in touch.
Continue Advancing Your Career Plans
You might be wondering how to plan if you are considering what to do over the summer or about to graduate. Some employers have halted or shifted hiring timelines and changed the way they are recruiting potential candidates. There are ways you can continue to gain new skills, build your professional network and prepare for your next career move.
Annabel Khouri, international student and employer engagement specialist, is available if you need additional assistance or want to discuss your specific circumstances. Contact Annabel via email at axk966@case.edu.
Post-Graduate Planning and Experiential Education is also open for appointments and new time blocks have been added to accommodate students in different time zones. Use My Journey to schedule a phone or Zoom appointment with a career consultant or pre-professional advisor.
Additionally, you can visit the virtual Career Lab for drop-in appointments.
During the spring, particularly around tax time and university commencements, scams are common.
ISS wants to make sure that international students are aware of these scams and know how to protect themselves. Visit our website for more information. (need URL Updated)

The Global Citizen Awards honor outstanding students, faculty or staff, campus partners and student organizations that enhance the international student experience, create a sense of community and champion internationalization at Case Western Reserve University.
Typically, the winners of the awards are announced at the Center for International Affairs' International Achievement Luncheon. Since we are unable to host that event this year, we will be announcing the winners in a virtual ceremony on Thursday, April 23 at 2:00 pm EST. Details will be on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pg/CWRUInternational
We hope the Case Western Reserve campus community joins us to celebrate the winners and recognize them for their contributions.
