Giving Tuesday is December 3rd

Help Make Study Abroad Opportunities Possible for Students

#GivingTuesdayatCWRU offers students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the university a way to join the spirit of #GivingTuesday by making a gift that will benefit causes affiliated with campus schools, departments and organizations that allow members of the CWRU community to serve others on a local, national, and global scale. This year, #GivingTuesday is Tuesday, December 3.

Every year, a number of CWRU undergraduate and graduate students study abroad with the Mandel School. Students broaden their perspectives on the world and gain new insight on how different countries and cultures approach social justice and social welfare issues, policies, and practices in order to bring back creative solutions for addressing challenges in their own communities. Your gift will directly support student scholarships for transformative global study in Ecuador, Guatemala, Poland, the Netherlands, South Africa and Mexico this year. Every dollar makes a difference to our students. Please consider a gift today to make study abroad a reality for our students. Make your gift here. #GivingTuesdayatCWRU #GivingTuesday #StudyAbroad

A Little Campus History

The Site of our Mandel Building

Before the Mandel Building was built at the corner of Ford and Bellflower, the building pictured below was there and housed students, and for a time, a fraternity.  Before that, it was the home of William Henry Canniff who had a long career in railroads.  His most prominent position was that of President of the New York, Chicago and St. Louis Railway, better known as the Nickel Plate Railway, which was headquartered in Cleveland.  He retired from that position in 1916, after serving 18 years.
