Faculty and Staff Climate Surveys Coming Soon

Please see the note below from Dean Gilmore regarding two upcoming surveys:

Dear Colleagues,

On Tuesday, November 12, the CWRU Office of Institutional Research will distribute two climate surveys to members of the Mandel School. The surveys have been created by your colleagues in the Mandel School to assess the current status of our workplace climate. One survey has been customized for faculty members, the other was written for staff members. Only members of the Mandel School are participating in the survey. We are doing it because we care about each other, and we want to build a better workplace climate for all members.

The Office of Institutional Research will send a unique link to the appropriate survey to each faculty and staff member. That office will collect and analyze the responses. Responses are anonymous, and data will be reported in aggregate. Members of the Mandel School will not have access to the raw data. These protections are in place to ensure anonymity and to thereby encourage all members to share their opinions.

We have been engaging in a number of activities to address the climate in the school in the last few years. Your participation will give us valuable information on the areas where we may be doing well and the areas that remain to be a challenge. I look forward to the discussions that we will have in the spring term when the results are reported. It is through these efforts that we can all work together to create and sustain the workplace that we all value.

My thanks to the Faculty and Staff Climate Workgroups and the Mandel Office of Finance and Administration who created the surveys.

Thank you for participating in the climate survey when you receive it.

Dean Gilmore

In addition, please note that the staff survey is an update to the one administered approximately two years ago.  Finance and Administration thanks the Staff Working Group for their input as this update was reviewed.  Lastly, Finance and Administration wanted to be sure all staff knew the faculty were also undergoing a similar process as it relates to improving our climate at the Mandel School.

Your response to the staff survey will be very valuable and very appreciated.  You will receive a unique link to the survey tomorrow, November 12, 2019, in an email from the Office of Institutional Research.

Mandel School Closing Policy: There May be a Storm A-Brewin

With the dire weather forecast for early this week, this would be a good time to review the Mandel School's closing policy.  Please note that while only the President can close the University, the Mandel School can close/cancel evening and weekend classes and events under extreme circumstances (not just weather related).  Typically, this will be an extension of the University's decision.  Please review the policy so you'll know what to expect.

Faculty & Staff Happy Hour Success

Group of 10 faculty and staff around a long table.

A small, but mighty group came out on a rainy evening to chat and learn a little more about each other.  Fun fact: the group included the same number of native Clevelanders as Iowans... (2 each).  Photo credit: Sam Cocco and the bartender.
