The Second Annual Pumpkin Fest

Mid-October, the time when leaves start to change their colors and temperatures start to drop; Autumn begins to hit in full swing. The season wasn’t the only thing swinging this year though. Across the main quad and the north residential village, the sound of a clean thwack could be heard as brothers, alumni, students, and the surrounding community tried out their skills in the great pumpkin smash of 2019. This was not just some random event however, the brothers of the Zeta chapter of Delta Tau Delta came together, led by philanthropy chair Dale Wehlburg, in our second annual Pumpkin Festival to raise awareness and money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. On average, 40,000 people are diagnosed with type one diabetes, a life altering disease, each year, and JDRF is raising money to aid in the research of T1D in the aim to turn Type One into Type None. People (and a few local dogs) were drawn in by the sight of pumpkins flying through the air, the sound of them exploding and laughter following, and the smell of Alex Neyman, Lucas Popp, and Will Campbell working their magic- flipping burgers on the grill, leading to Zeta raising a grand total of $1400 towards JDRF. We are beyond proud of what we were able to accomplish and grateful to the support of the greater Cleveland area leading to this achievement. A ~gourd~ time was had by all and we can’t wait to see you there next year!
