Welcome International Students to CWRU

Case Western Reserve University's International Friendship Program helps students transition to life in the U.S., offers hosts the unique opportunity to learn about diverse nationalities and cultures, and serves as a springboard for friendships that last beyond a student's time at CWRU.  Each year, faculty, staff and alumni hosts are matched with international students.  Hosts and students get together several times over the school year to enjoy home-cooked meals, events on campus and outings in Cleveland.  This is a great way to develop friendships and support our international community at Case Western Reserve University.  Many international students will arrive in Cleveland this fall and hosts are needed to make them feel welcome.  Please learn more about the program and apply to be a host.  Kim McFarlin is also available to answer any questions.

Party on the Quad

Come join all faculty, staff, and students at the University's annual Party on the Quad.  Invite your buddy!  Drag your co-workers!  It will be held on the CWRU Quad (main campus, south of Euclid Avenue) on Wednesday, July 24th from 2 - 5 p.m.  It includes a free barbeque lunch, games and a chance to win prizes.  Be sure to bring your CWRU ID (and maybe your camera).

Free Webinar: Uncovering Unconscious Beliefs

Offered through CWRU's employee assistance program via IMPACT Solutions:  We all have unconscious beliefs or preconceived ideas.  While this is normal, it's important to recognize that they can negatively impact our behavior and relationships, both on a personal and professional level.  This webinar will show you how to tune in and bring these unconscious beliefs to the surface so that they don't get in your way.  This webinar is available on demand during July, 2019.  To access:

  1. Navigate to www.myimpactsolutions.com
  2. Click on "go to member login" box and log in with company code "CWRU"
  3. Click on the blue "webinar" box
  4. Choose July webinar (either green button)

Did You Know...?

The BlueLink shuttle can pick you up right across the street from the Mandel Building (in front of the Peter B. Lewis Building), and can take you all the way up Mayfield Road, through the Little Italy and Coventry neighborhoods.  Gather a group of colleagues and get a free, convenient ride to a number of Italian eateries in Little Italy, or Coventry restaurants like BD's Mongolian Barbeque, Tommy's, Pacific East, among others.  Or, check out the shops - bookstores, art shops, and more.  What a great way to spend your lunch hour!

The shuttle is free and stops at Ford and Bellflower every half hour - at approximately 10 after and 20 til each hour (e.g., 11:10, 11:40, 12:10).  You can also download the app on your phone -  "TransLoc" in the App Store - to see exactly when the shuttle will arrive.
