University and Faculty Senate committees are a great way to get involved as a grad student at CWRU. The Graduate Student Council is currently looking for representatives for a number of committees. The time commitment is minimal but your impact is not. Application available here.

Roarin' Twenties GSAW Ball

Save the date! The Roarin' Twenties GSAW Ball is just two months away. Saturday, April 11th, 7-11pm at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Early Bird Ticket sales start 2/24 at noon.

Advocacy 101

The Advocacy 101 workshop on Friday, February 21 from 4:45 to 6 p.m. in Thwing Center, Room 101 is designed to give you the tools to help you take a stand for the issues you believe in. During this workshop, Larry Bresler, CWRU Professor and Executive Director of Organize! Ohio, will overview what advocacy is and offer tips to become a more confident advocate. Student organizations will also help you see CWRU student advocates in action by sharing ways they have used advocacy tools, such as public education, dialogue, political engagement, demonstrations, and more, to make change on causes they care about. Dinner from the Jolly Scholar will be served, and a $100 grant will be given to the student organization that brings the most members (members must attend the full event, and the winning organization must have a CWRU speedtype where the funds will be journaled). Co-sponsored by the Center for Civic Engagement & Learning (CCEL) Executive Council and Lambda Eta Mu.

Diversity 360: Graduate Student Series

Diversity 360 series has a special guest speaker this month! Tuesday, February 11th from 5:30-7pm in Thwing 301. We will discuss multiethnic and multiracial identities. Dinner will be provided.

Maintaining Motivation During Your PhD

Join WISHED's Professional Development Group on Wednesday February 26th from 4-5pm at Yost Hall Room 107. From 4-4:30, our group will check-in on our progress and challenges over the past month, then Dr. Janice Gerda will facilitate a discussion on "maintaining motivation during your PhD". Dr. Gerda is a CWRU alum now serving as the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs. She earned her PhD in higher education administration from Bowling Green State University in December of 2004. Her dissertation was titled A History of the Conferences of Deans of Women, 1903-1922.

Naach Di Cleveland

Come out to Naach Di Cleveland (NDC) dance competition on February 22, 2020 to watch collegiate South Asian teams from all over the country compete! The show begins at 5PM at the Cleveland Public Auditorium with an after party at Tomo Restaurant and Lounge at 10PM. Show tickets are $8 for CWRU students and after party tickets are $17. CWRUinCLE: Experience the History of May 4th, 1970 at Kent State University

This off-campus excursions will provide students the opportunity to learn the history and national impact of 5/4/70, when four Kent State University students were shot and killed on campus by the Ohio National Guard while protesting the Vietnam War.
