Values
We achieve and fulfill this mission by fostering a medical education community rooted in the pursuit of mastery:
·Curiosity and Inquiry: Promoting critical thinking and a lifelong growth mindset.
· Compassionate Connection: Prioritizing ethics, patient partnerships, and adaptability to deliver optimal patient care.
· Collaborative Leadership:Building a collegial environment to navigate learning and growing together and to provide space for new and divergent ideas to inspire continuous improvement in our communities - locally, nationally and globally.
Dr. Kathryn (Kate) Miller as WR2/UP Associate Dean of Curriculum
The Office of Medical Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kathryn (Kate) Miller as our Associate Dean of Curriculum. Dr. Miller has been serving as our interim Associate Dean of Curriculum since last July and brings a wealth of experience, expertise, and energy to the medical education executive team. We are confident that she will significantly contribute to our students’ learning and to the advancement of our educational mission.
Dr. Miller is a pediatric critical care physician who earned her medical degree at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine followed by a pediatric residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. After a pediatric critical care fellowship at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, she moved to Cleveland where she’s been an exceptional clinician educator. She holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Bioethics.
Dr. Miller’s impressive background in clinical education includes serving as the Pediatrics Clerkship Director at University Hospitals and one of the founders of the Sciences and Art of Medicine Integrated (SAMI) course. Most recently, she served as our Assistant Dean of Longitudinal Clinical Education, paying attention to the full four-year arc of clinical preparation for our WR2/UP medical students. At the national level, she has served as a member of the Aquifer Academic Council and a member of the Pediatrics Affinity Group in the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities. Her leadership in these roles demonstrate her unwavering commitment to student learning as well as an innate ability to be an innovator in the curriculum. In her new position, Dr. Miller will oversee the entirety of the WR2 curriculum, ensuring a comprehensive and integrated learning experience for our students. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Miller to her new role.
