Research Ethics Theatre: Earn 6 CREC Credits - Monday, May 20, 2019, 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Join the Office of Research and Technology Management to watch the remarkable true story of identical triplets who were separated at birth and raised by adoptive parents.  The story of their coincidental reunion turns dark when they later discover that throughout their childhood they were unknowing participants in a research study of identical siblings raised apart.  Following the movie, a panel of experts will discuss the ethical issues and provide insight into this disturbing case.  The movie and discussion will take place May 20, 2019 from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. in the Wolstein Research Building (Room 1413).  Panelists include:

  • Dr. Suzanne Rivera, Vice President for Research and Technology Management

  • Dr. Jill Korbin, Director, Schubert Center for Child Studies
  • Dr. Lee Thompson, Professor, Department of Psychological Sciences

Mandel Center Classroom Upgrades

As announced at the March 8th all-staff meeting, the following first-floor spaces in the Mandel Center will be off-line this summer for technology upgrades: Classrooms 105, 106, 107, Lecture Room 108, Conference Room 115.  Room 114 will also be off-line due to the work taking place in Room 115.  This work will replace (and upgrade) all existing technology and add full Zoom capabilities (built-in cameras and microphones) and screen sharing.  Please note this means that these spaces cannot be scheduled starting May 20, 2019 through the summer.  Please contact Craig Zullig with any questions about this project.

Nash Walkway Project Begins Summer 2019

Formally known as the Lucia Smith Nash Walkway, this project will drastically improve the walkway behind the Mandel School Building (a.k.a., Bellflower Court) and provide new amenities along the way.  The project begins after Commencement and will likely reach our area by August.  Referring to the site plan below, the project will provide three major improvements for the Mandel School - an improved entrance from Ford Road (Ford Plaza), a better connection to our courtyard (MSASS Steps), and a Study Garden.  The second image is a perspective of the MSASS Steps.  Note the sculptural fence which will block the neighboring parking lot.  Overall, this phase of the project will improve the walkway from Juniper Road to Ford Road.
