Things are full swing in the HEC these days…including preparations for this year’s Doc Opera, our annual talent show that raises money for our student run health clinics. I’m excited to see what our amazing students come up with every year.
Some news to share is that our Anatomy Department has a new home. The new anatomy labs had their opening celebration earlier this month to showcase the newly renovated and now state of the art facilities for cadaveric dissection and learning. We are always grateful to the donors who make this possible through their generous gift.
The Pathways had another successful year with 117 students enrolling into the pathways. Wellness remains the top program with 39 M1s joining but Health Innovation and Entrepreneurship is close behind with 29 M1s. We look forward to showcasing the great work of our pathway students.
Please plan to attend the School of Medicine Student Research Day coming up on Thursday, October 16th from 8 AM to 4:30 PM at the Tinkham Veale University Center. It’s a great event to learn about all the discovery and innovation happening here!
I will be re-starting my listening sessions with the upcoming class meetings. I look forward to hearing from you about what’s working well and where we have room for improvement. You don’t need to wait for those in person sessions…feel free to email me with any thoughts or ideas you might have. My door is always open.

Qooper is coming!
This year, CWRU SOM is using the Qooper Mentoring app to facilitate our Mentor Match program. Medical students connect with a diverse network of mentors across CWRU, Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, MetroHealth, the VA, and community partners. Students build a personalized team of advisors who provide guidance in academics, career exploration, research, and personal growth. This program helps learners foster meaningful relationships early in their training and cultivates long-term support for thriving in medicine.
Be on the lookout for an email to join the Mentor Match Program!
