Community Remembrance

While CWRU students are known for having busy schedules, leadership commitments, academic deadlines, and applications; the Greek Life Office wants to share a very important yearly remembrance tradition.

Light the Campus is an annual night of remembrance where anyone and everyone of the CWRU community is welcome to recognize the students, staff, faculty, friends, and loved ones who have passed on and to celebrate their life. Everyone copes with death differently and the topic can make people feel uneasy. The celebration welcomes members of the community from all backgrounds, religions, or beliefs and is open to everyone.

There are very limited resources for remembrance on campus. Please take some time and reflect on those who have impacted you most. If you, or someone you know, needs help or wants to learn more about campus resources please read below.

Each year, CWRU lights a part of campus to remember community members or their loved ones who have passed away. Students, faculty and staff can submit names to be read during the ceremony.

Light the Campus ceremony will be held in-person on Monday, February 26 at 5:00pm in the KSL Oval Thwing in the Atrium; masking and social distancing protocols will be followed.

In addition to lighting the trees during the ceremony, students, faculty and staff can pick-up a battery-powered light in Thwing after the ceremony to display in their office, dorm or home window throughout the month of March. Candles will be available on a first come first serve basis.

We are also searching for volunteers to assist with reading names and distributing candles during the event.

To submit a name, order a candle or sign-up to volunteer please complete this form: https://cglink.me/2cS/s94567
