Mental Health First Aid: Spring Trainings
If you missed the opportunity to attend the Mental Health First Aid (MHF) trainings last semester, you are in luck. MHFA will be offered again this semester, details below.
What is Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based training program offered to the CWRU community, led by certified trainers from CWRU.
Mental Health First Aid is a training that prepares participants to recognize warning signs of mental health challenges, offer compassionate initial support, and guide individuals toward appropriate campus or community resources. The curriculum covers common conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and substance use, and emphasizes non‑judgmental listening, risk awareness, and referral steps.
MHFA is an empowering opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to actively contribute to a caring, resilient campus environment. Dates and registration links for Mental Health First Aid trainings can be found below.
Please note that some trainings are multi-day trainings culminating in an 8-hour training. Participants must be available all days for the full time in order to participate.

Mental Health Ally
We recognize that the Mental Health First Aid training requires a significant time commitment. If you are interested in learning how to support the CWRU community but are unable to attend all eight hours, please consider attending UH&CS' Mental Health Ally (MHA) training. The Mental Health Ally Training intends to foster a Culture of Care by equipping community members with tools to identify signs of distress and increased safety risks. This training addresses myths about suicide, provides guidance for supportive conversations, and offers a clear framework for seeking support and resources, emphasizing prevention and self-care. Click here for more inofrmation and training dates for the Mental Health Ally training.
