History fact of the week:
The National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights, held on October 14, 1979, was inspired in part by the assassination of openly gay California politician Harvey Milk. The five issues the march supported included the end of anti-homosexual laws and a push for a ban on discrimination in the federal government based on sexual orientation. An estimated 200,000 people attended, and the event nationalized the movement for gay rights, which was previously fragmented and focused on problems in individual communities.

Mondays are for the Boys: Masculinity Mondays
Audience: CWRU Men-Identified Students
Masculinity Mondays is a new initiative presented by a group of fraternities on campus in which participants will discuss various topics and their relationship to masculinity.
The goal is to take a topic and build a discussion based on a piece of related media, giving participants the opportunity to connect personal experiences to shared values and evaluate what masculinity means to them in this new context. The most important part is to ask questions: “How can I apply these values to my daily life? What am I doing well and what can I do to improve?”
Students will meet Oct. 25, Nov. 1, Nov. 15 and Nov. 22. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with the discussion from 6 to 7 p.m. Dinner will be provided. Prior to each session, students can visit the Masculinity Mondays Instagram page (@masculinitymondayscwru) to find that week’s topic, link to a piece of media and a brief preview of the discussion. The Instagram page also will include a link to CampusGroups to register for the next session.

Thank you to everyone who has been wearing their mask consistently. There was a decrease in mask violations this week! Many of the violations are coming from guests in the building. Remember that you are responsible for your guests and remind them to wear their masks in the building. These policies are across all residence halls. Vaccinated residents across campus and in our building have tested positive for COVID-19. While the vaccines have allowed us to be fully present on campus by greatly reducing cases, there is still a possibility of transmission. If there are any questions, feel free to reach out to Tessa and/or Justin.
BiWeekly Testing - It's our week!
Undergraduates in university housing must test every other week. These students will use rapid tests, which involve self-administered nasal swabs and yield results within 15 minutes. Testing for Clarke Tower residents is in Wade Commons.

These protocols are helping all of us to stay on campus and in person!
