Progress Pride Flag History
Closing out October, we've celebrated the end of Hispanic Heritage month, Hindu Heritage Month, Filipino American History Month, Domestic Violence Awareness & Advocacy Month, and now LGBT History Month. Here's some facts about the Progress Pride Flag and how it came to be.
While the original Rainbow flag was designed in 1978 by Gilbert Baker, and the Transgender Pride flag was designed in 1999 by Monica Helms, Daniel Quasar combined both renderings to reimagine and re-design the Progress Pride Flag in 2018
The flags black and brown stripes represent marginalized LBGT communities of color, community members lost to HIV/AIDS, and those currently living with AIDS
Quasar wrote that the traditional six stripes “should be separated from the newer stripes because of their difference in meaning, as well as to shift focus and emphasis to what is important in our current community climate.”
Quasar reshaped the new flag colors into a chevron to represent a need for forward movement
Congratulations Jasmine!

She's been esssential to the work of OMA with UDC and other clubs & organizations, and we're all VERY excited for this promotion. Way to go Jasmine!!!
Black Student Equity Survey, which is intended to gather information about Black students' experiences at institutions of higher education across Ohio. Survey results will remain confidential and will be used to inform a report that will be the first of its kind, assessing both affordability and equity issues, from tuition and fees to campus policing, that uniquely face our state's Black student population.
This survey is by Ohio Student Association (OSA), a statewide, grassroots organization anchored by student-led chapters on college campuses across Ohio.
