Have a great week everyone!

Campus Master Plan

After nearly a decade since its last campus master plan was released, Case Western Reserve is launching a new planning initiative to shape the future of the university’s physical campus. This new plan, led by campus master planning and design firm SmithGroup, will serve as a comprehensive guide for the physical evolution of campus, outlining a strategic road map for renovations, new construction, and other investments in campus facilities and spaces, ensuring development decisions support the university’s mission and vision.

The process

The campus master planning process comprises three parts:

  1. Understand: A discovery phase to uncover goals, aspirations, current challenges and opportunities for the future.
  2. Learn: Data and analysis phase, which culminates in testing of potential ideas and solutions.
  3. Explore: Based on the previous phases, SmithGroup will create recommendations for improvements and document the campus master plan in a final report.

Sharing your input

Phase one is officially underway today, as SmithGroup has developed a website to provide updates on the master planning process. In addition, they’ve launched a brief (no more than 10-minute) interactive survey where members of the CWRU community are encouraged to provide feedback on their most-used areas of campus, areas of opportunity for the university, safety concerns, pedestrian traffic and more.

As a member of the Greek Life community, this is a valuable opportunity for you to share your personal experiences with campus facilities and suggest ideas to help improve them for future CWRU students.
