Message from Vice Dean Logio

Dear Students:

March Madness! In Cleveland, this refers to both NCAA Basketball as well as the CRAZY WEATHER!! We’re not quite to spring but it’s coming. Big week for our senior students with Match Day on Friday. If you are in the building, please join us in the atrium for all of the festivities and celebration. Thanks for the M2s who joined us on Friday to celebrate your last IQ session. We hope you take the time to reflect on how far you’ve come as you prepare to get into your clinical clerkships. We know you are ready! For the M1s, Block 4 is making it seem real as you learn more medicine and how interdependent the organ systems are.

I want to also remind you that as events continue in Iran and across the Middle East, we all recognize that these developments may be personal and distressing. Please reach out if you need help. University Counseling Services can be reached at 216-368-5872 or through MyHealthConnect. In addition, TimelyCare provides access to online support 24/7.

Each of you plays an important role in supporting each other; simply checking-in with a colleague or friend can make a meaningful difference.

Finally, we are expecting a full evaluation on the Wi-Fi situation in the HEC so we can remedy it once and for all.

Keep in touch. Stay well.

Please help us identify and Food insecurity at the HEC

Health Professions students nationwide have reported experiencing food insecurity, meaning they worry that their food supply will not last through the month. Please help us understand the extent of food insecurity on our Health Education Campus and identify opportunities to address this need. We would greatly appreciate it if you can take the HEC Food Security Survey 2026 - it is anonymous, voluntary, and it is not research. The survey can also be accessed by scanning the QR Code:

Women's History Month: Honoring Leadership, Impact and Opportunity

Each March, Women’s History Month provides an opportunity to reflect on the vital contributions women have made - and continue to make - across every field including healthcare. Established by Congress in 1987, this month is dedicated to recognizing the leadership, innovation and advocacy of women whose voices and actions have shaped our communities and our world.

This recognition holds special meaning at University Hospitals where women make up a significant portion of our caregiver workforce and are at the forefront of delivering compassionate care to our patients. Your expertise and leadership directly influence outcomes and strengthen trust in the care we provide every day.

This year’s national theme, “Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future,” selected by the National Women's History Alliance, highlights women who are reimagining systems to support environmental, economic and social sustainability. In healthcare, this work shows up in countless ways, from innovative care models and research to mentorship and advocacy that supports a more resilient future for our patients and communities.

Women’s History Month is also a time to learn from one another and invest in growth. We invite you to participate in upcoming opportunities including:
