Happy New Year!
Happy New Year and welcome back, everyone. A big welcome to our new students on campus as well. Happy Lights
Is the joy of being back on campus dampened for you by the lack of sun we experience in Cleveland? The days may be getting longer, but the grey skys persist over the city. If you have noticed you are feeling low at this point in the season, it may be from the lack of sun exposure, and you may be experiencing Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) — a type of depression that can show up during the fall and winter months when there’s less sunlight. It’s normal for moods to dip sometimes, but if you notice these feelings sticking around or getting harder to manage, reach out! You can make a same-day appointment with UH&CS or connect with TimelyCare to talk about what’s going on.
There are ways to support yourself and feel better, including therapy, medication, and light therapy. While you hopefully know that you can reach out to UH&CS for therapy and consultation, did you know that UH&CS has light therapy lamps available for use at our clinic, as well as to borrow for a one-month period of time?

Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) will be back again this semester with trainings every month.MHAS prepares participants to recognize warning signs of mental health challenges, offer compassionate initial support, and guide individuals toward appropriate campus or community resources. The curriculum covers common conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and substance use, and emphasizes non‑judgmental listening, risk awareness, and referral steps.
