Fall is here! Some beautiful days of sunshine, cooler temperatures, and a comfortable breeze. Please take time to enjoy the outdoors. At these seasonal transitions, it’s time to pause and reflect on the summer that just passed and the exciting things that are coming up.
Our first-year students are doing great things as they get fully immersed into Block 2 and the Foundations of Clinical Medicine Course (affectionately known as Tuesday Seminar and Block 8). I’ve heard that the new Meta Quest devices with HoloAnatomy.Next are working well. The Kowal SAGE program has officially launched with first year students learning about Age-Friendly Healthcare through the eyes of a Cleveland Senior Citizen or SAGE (Senior Advisor in Geriatric Education). The second-year students are knee-deep in “bugs and drugs” as part of Block 5 with many also showcasing their research efforts at the upcoming Research Day on October 16th.
As for our senior students, the third years are finally feeling a bit more comfortable in this hospitals and outpatient practices. They continue to have unlimited enthusiasm for taking care of patients. And this past week, ERAS (Electronic Residency Application System) officially opened! It is exciting to see the Class of 2026 students preparing for their next steps!
Of course, Doc Opera is coming in December. I’m excited about the SICK-ED theme!
As always, my door is open. Happy to hear any and all praises, concerns, or comments from you. I will be joining the upcoming class meetings for listening sessions.
