Winter (break) is coming!
Just like that, we have made it to the end of the semester. Congratulations, students. Your hard work throughout the semester has definitely shown. We cannot believe the semester is ending in just a few days, with finals to follow. While we are sure you are excited about winter break, making it the last few steps can be overwhelming with final exams, projects, and papers. Know that UH&CS is here for you every step of the way; if you need support, reach out.
University Health and Counseling Services is here to provide medical, mental health, wellness and public health services to all CWRU, CIA, CIM and KSU Podiatry students. All visits to UH&CS are no-cost to students, regardless of the type of health insurance you may have.

TimelyCare and Exams!
As final exams near, set yourself up for success. Exams are a lot. The late nights, the stress, the “did I study enough?” spiral that
somehow turns into re-reading the same sentence 12 times instead of sleeping. We’ve been there.
That’s why TimelyCare is here 24/7 with:
Self-care tools for test anxiety, sleep, and time management• Yoga + meditation on demand to calm your brain and reset in minutes
Peer community + professional support when you need to talk it out
Care anytime, even at 2 AM before your big exam
Take a break. Take a breath. Take care of you.
Get TimelyCare (and actually sleep before exams) now.

Mental Health Ally Training
Introducing the Mental Health Ally (MHA) Training. The MHA intends to foster a Culture of Care by equipping community members with tools to identify signs of distress and increased safety risks. This training addresses myths about suicide, provides guidance for supportive conversations, and offers a clear framework for seeking support and resources, emphasizing prevention and self-care.
All CWRU Community members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please see below for upcoming Mental Health Ally Trainings this month.
If none of the sessions above work for your schedule, please click here to see additional training dates. Student groups and departments can also contact Mary Halm (mxh1034@case.edu) to request a training for their group.
Let's Talk: Drop-in Consultation
At Case Western Reserve University, we want to promote the health and well-being of all our students. In addition to individual and group counseling and a variety of other counseling services, we offer Let’s Talk. Let’s Talk is a drop-in service that offers 1:1 informal, confidential consultation with a UHCS counselor.
Who is a good fit for Let’s Talk?
Students wanting to talk through a specific problem or stressor
Students in need of support and unsure of where to find help
Students who are unsure if counseling is the right fit and want to try out speaking with a counselor
Let’s Talk is available at no cost to all undergraduate, graduate, and professional students at CWRU, CIA, and CIM as well as KSU podiatry students.
Let’s Talk consultations are typically about 20-25 minutes in length.

Financial Wellness
If you have ever found yourself worried about finances or how to manage a budget, consider checking out some of these financial wellness resources on campus.
This spring, students can register for MGMT:205 Essentials of Personal Finance, a 1.5-credit course that goes beyond budgeting and satisfies UGER Wellness credit. Students will walk away with the knowledge and real-life skills needed to make smart financial decisions - now and long after graduation.
If you want to learn more about financial wellness, sign up and take the course!
Want to learn more about financial wellness, keep an eye out for our January newsletter, which happens to be Financial Wellness Month.
Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) will be offered this December. MHFA is an evidence-based training program this fall led by certified trainers from CWRU. Mental Health First aid prepares participants to recognize warning signs of mental health challenges, offer compassionate initial support, and guide individuals toward appropriate campus or community resources. The curriculum covers common conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and substance use, and emphasizes non‑judgmental listening, risk awareness, and referral steps.
December Training Details:
December 3rd AND 5th at The Veale Center Hall of Fame (Trophy Room), 9am - 2pm. Register by clicking here.
The annual Giving Tuesday campaign begins on Dec. 2 (tomorrow) and this year you can donate to UH&CS in support of our student mental health fund. The Mental Health Fund is used to support CWRU students in obtaining necessary mental health care. One of the biggest barriers to receiving help is cost, with your donation, UH&CS can continue to support students in receiving the appropriate levels of care.
If you would like to donate to support our student mental health fund! You can do so by following these five steps below.

Peer Health Education
PHE spotlight
UH&CS would like to take a moment to uplift one of our first Peer Health Educators, Michelle Gimba. Michelle has been part of the peer health education program since the inaugural training team in Spring 2023. This semester, Michelle graduates, and we are so thankful for everything she has done for the PHE program. Michelle will take a gap year working as an MA in New York City before moving on to Medical School.
Thank you, Michelle, for your dedication, support, and hard work as a PHE. We wish you well in your next adventure. Congratulations!
