Light the Campus: Day of Remembrance

Dear CWRU Community Members,

This year's Light the Campus Ceremony will be held on Monday, March 2nd at 5:00 PM on the KSL Oval. If you are not familiar, Light the Campus is CWRU's Day of Remembrance. We gather as a community to honor and remember the ones we love and have lost in the last year. This is an opportunity in which we can stand together and support our friends, peers, students, staff, and faculty as we grieve.

Everyone connected to the CWRU community, as well as all CIA, CIM, and KSU School of Podiatry are welcome to attend and submit a name to be read during the ceremony. Information for attending and submitting a name can be found below.

Submit a Name

Please submit a name of someone who has recently passed that you would like to be remembered at the Light the Campus ceremony. Names can be anyone, it is not limited to CWRU students, faculty and staff. We hope that you can attend the event in-person to hear the name read. 

Display a Battery Powered Candle

In addition to lighting the trees during the ceremony, students, faculty and staff can pick-up a battery-powered candle in Thwing to display in their office, residence hall or home window throughout the month of March. If you would like a candle, please attend the ceremony and pick up your candle in person after the ceremony from 5:15pm-6:00pm in the Thwing Atrium. Candles will be available on a first come first serve basis.

Volunteer During the Event

We are also looking for student volunteers to assist with reading names during the ceremony, lighting the lights and passing out candles after. Volunteers would need to be present from 4:45pm-6:00pm. To volunteer, register here.
