About Us

Mortar Board is a National Honor society formed in 1918 that recognizes college students with senior academic standing. Mortar Board is an association of individuals selected for distinguished ability and achievement in scholarship, leadership, and service. Our Lux Chapter serves to contribute to the self-awareness of its members, to promote equal opportunities among all peoples, to emphasize the advancement of the status of women, and to support the ideals of Case Western Reserve University. Mortar Board advances a spirit of scholarship, recognizes and encourages leadership, provides service to the Cleveland community, and  establishes the opportunity for a meaningful exchange of ideas as individuals and as a group composed of students from all departments.
