The Spartan Bicycle Shop is a non-for-profit organization located in the Sears ThinkBox. We perform basic bicycle maintenance and provide minimal accessories for purchase. The executive body and its employees run on a voluntary basis and function only when demand is prevalent. Profits that are accrued by the Spartan Bike Shop are to be reinvested in the campus community, through avenues of direct funding to Undergraduate Organizations or improvements to campus cycling infrastructure.
A note to those interested in the mechanical positions, all parts and maintenance that are ordered from the shop or can be ordered from the supplier will be provided to the mechanical staff members at reduced pricing as the shop is non-for-profit and intended to serve the student body. The environment of the shop is meant to promote safety and risk reduction, but the mechanical role is meant to be a relaxed position and availability is indicated at the beginning of each month both for the employee and the customers. Work hours are intended to accommodate the staff, not vice versa.
A note to those interested in the administrative roles, the dynamic nature of this bike shop means that it is not a standard, traditional USG organization. You are being entrusted with a fully-functioning shop and business enterprise of which we facilitate the finances and organize a team to produce a huge service that is much, much needed on this campus. Given this responsibility, being a member of the executive body is truly an experience that carries real applicable value. The role demands attention and everyone involved in this project should be passionate about its success.
