About Us

The Biodesign Club is a student-led organization dedicated to creating innovative biomaterials—such as bioplastics, bioleather, algae-based yarns, and mycelium composites—as sustainable alternatives to conventional materials. We not only design and prototype these materials, but also test and refine their properties to improve performance. By exploring applications across design, fashion, architecture, medicine, and beyond, we aim to advance sustainable innovation and contribute to a circular future.

Members Benefits

Applied R&D Investigate and improve existing biodesign materials such as bioplastics, bioleather, and mycelium composites. Our focus includes optimizing fabrication methods and enhancing material properties. Fabrication and Testing Engage in hands-on synthesis of biomaterials using safe, small-scale lab protocols. Members will gain experience producing, handling, and mechanically and chemically testing materials for strength, flexibility, biodegradability, and more. Technical Implementation Explore the potential of biodesigned materials in diverse fields, including biomedical engineering, sustainable packaging, art, and structural design. Emphasis will be placed on functional integration and assessing feasibility for scale-up. Makerspace Equipment Training Laser Cutting and 3D printing Training Potential Competition/Conference Participation
