Community Choice Aggregation

Action Alert

Ask Mayor Bibb, city sustainability staff, and your council members to ensure Clevelanders have a healthier, more sustainable future!

Right now, the city is determining who it will contract with to provide power as part of Cleveland's community choice aggregation program. This is a critical decision to help ensure Cleveland meets the goal of shifting to 100% renewable energy by 2030, part of Mayor Bibb's First 100 Days plan.

Below you will find a letter template and the email addresses for city officials and council members. If your ward is not listed, you can find it here.

Let your local leaders know you support shifting to a healthier, more sustainable future for all Clevelanders!

Letter

Dear Mayor Bibb, city sustainability staff, and council members,

I am writing to you today because Cleveland has an opportunity to negotiate a new energy contract to ensure renewables are the prime source of energy powering our community, ensuring a healthier, more sustainable future for all Cleveland residents.

I strongly support the Mayor's stated goal of rapidly shifting the source of our energy to renewable sources, and hope that those sources of clean energy will, as soon as possible, be coming from Ohio-based wind and solar energy, ensuring Ohioans are getting the economic and health benefits along with the promise of a more sustainable future for us all.

By shifting toward Ohio-based renewable energy, we can create economic development by creating jobs for Ohioans, and become a leader on environmental justice issues, ensuring that those who are impacted the most by climate change are the ones who ultimately benefit most from this needed and overdue shift toward a more sustainable, healthier future.

Cleveland has long been an innovative city and led in the development of many of the second industrial revolution industries, from electric light and power to steel, chemicals and automobiles. It's time for Cleveland to embrace this new phase in the fight against climate change and becomes a leader in creating a healthier, more equitable and sustainable future for all of our residents.

Please ensure that the next community choice aggregation contract the city enters is for 100% renewable energy and is sourced as soon as possible from Ohio-based renewable energy. Cleveland residents deserve a more equitable, more sustainable future, and this is a critical, and relatively simply step toward the goals the administration has set forth.
