Training for Supervisors

IMPACT Solutions Employee Assistance Program and Human Resources invite staff and faculty to attend the following free one-hour supervisory seminars.  They are open to current supervisors as well as all faculty and staff.

How To Deal With Difficult People
2/14/2020 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. in the Biomedical Research Building, Room 105

Although the class is geared to supervisors, all staff and faculty are welcome to attend. Whether they’re employees, customers, colleagues, friends or even the boss there’s no way to avoid interacting with difficult people. This workshop is designed to assist individuals in the workplace falling victim to difficult peoples’ dysfunctions. The key outcomes of this workshop are to: Understand common types of difficult people; identify competencies needed to deal with difficult people; develop strategies when having difficult conversations; and understand how to plan effective strategies to deal with difficult people in the workplace.

Can’t We All Just Get Along? How Conflict Can Boost Workplace Success
3/3/2020 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. in the Biomedical Research Building, Room 105

Although the class is geared to supervisors, all staff and faculty are welcome to attend. Conflict is risky business. But learning how to reframe, navigate, and grow from our conflicts with others can be instrumental in creating productive, inclusive, and collaborative work environments. In this workshop, you will identify and assess the pros and cons of your personal conflict style and patterns, learn about conflict causes, types, benefits and drawbacks, learn to distinguish between high risk and skillful communication approaches, and identify and experience communication skills that strengthen relationships and build long term workplace solutions.

Register for these seminars (and others) through the Professional Development Center (PDC) website.
