The Presidential Inauguration: A New, Old President

On Monday, January 20, 2025, the USA will inaugurate a new president, former president Donald Trump. This workshop, designed for non-native speakers of English in the CWRU community, will provide information on the president, the presidency, and the transition from one president to another. Participants will discuss the US governmental system, major political parties and people, and compare and contrast it with other countries. Participants will leave with further knowledge of the US political system and the presidency, and get a chance to speak with others in the CWRU community. Snacks will be provided!

Guided Tour of the Cleveland Botanical Garden Indoor Glasshouse (Visit Madagascar and Costa Rica for an hour!)

Join us on a guided tour of our indoor Glasshouse Gardens! Visit the "Spiny Desert of Madagascar" and the "Cloud Forest of Costa Rica" in one 45-minute tour. Observe the sights, sounds, and smells of plants that have adapted to live successfully in these two very different environments. Escape the mostly chilly and dormant North East Ohio for a moment to immerse yourself if these green and growing indoor biomes, where banna trees, hissing cockroaches, free-flying birds, and blooming flowers await! Over the course of the tour, you'll learn about how plants naturally growing in Ohio compare to plants adapted to live in other climates.

Want to get more involved on campus? Not sure where to start? The Spring Student Activities Fair is a great opportunity to see a wide variety of student organizations and get more information on how you can get involved!

The theme this year is based off Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and as you go from table to table, you'll explore various parallel universes. There will be prizes and giveways for students who register and check-in with the SA&L team.

Universal Self-Defense (US) is a 3-week program offered to the entire campus community. The class will give insight into how to deploy self-defense tactics against an aggressor and how to exit an unwanted situation safely. Open to all, participants will be guided through exercises designed to strengthen their ability to defend themselves and build confidence in their abilities.
