GCAS Elections

Do you have an interest in becoming a GCAS Officer for the 2022-2023 school year? Then click the link here. But before you fill out this nomination form, please take a look at the GCAS Constitution on our Campus Groups page to familiarize yourself with the duties of each officer position to make sure it is right for you. If you have any questions about more specific duties, time commitments, etc. feel free to reach out to the officer already in charge of that position and they will be happy to help.

April 13th, 6-7pm EST in Crawford 09A and also virtually

This forum is for graduate students to voice any questions, concerns, and thoughts. If you have any specific questions, please email them to Cameron Griffith or Ray Garner. We will post notes from this forum to the GCAS Campus Group page. To register and obtain the zoom link for this event click here.

GCAS Constitution

Want to be highlighted in the GCAS Newsletter?
The GCAS team is looking to highlight a few different departments, groups, and organizations each month and if you would like to be one of those highlighted please email Yu-Hao Sun. Give us a brief description of what your group is about and the events coming up in the next month.

Health Check-in

GCAS wants to hear from you and how you are doing. We've created a four question survey to try and assess how you are coping during the first couple months back on campus. This is completely anonymous and meant to give the College of Arts and Science a rough idea on how you are handling things. Click here to take the survey.

Curious about what to do in and around Cleveland?

Two great resources we recommend is This is Cleveland and International Student Services (ISS) Bucket List. This is Cleveland gives a list of all the events happening in and around Cleveland. So if you're looking for a concert to go to or a touring art exhibit they will have all the details. ISS Bucket List gives a list of some things to do and places to visit before you graduate.

Dyngus Day April 18th

Whether you call it Dyngus Day, Wet Monday, or Smigus Dyngus, Cleveland is celebrating outdoors in Gordon Square, at the Gordon Green Event Center on Monday, April 18 from 10 am to 8 pm. Join us in their outdoor space for the party, polka, and piwo you love! Dyngus Day will be filled with Polish dancing, vendors, and paczki and will be a day of traditions and celebration!

Counseling Options Available
The University has launched CWRU Care, a 24/7 service to connect quickly online with counselors regarding specific issues free of charge. Additional therapy sessions and support spaces are also available to all students

Office for Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity

The mission of the Office for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equal Opportunity is to provide support and guidance and to promote equitable and fair treatment in employment, education, and other aspects of campus life. The office serves as a resource to the university in the interpretation, understanding, and application of federal and state equal opportunity and affirmative action laws and regulations.

OMA

The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) works to develop an inclusive CWRU community, one that supports all students, respects and celebrates their identities, and facilitates their success.

Quote of the Month

“If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”
– Sirius Black

Trivia Question

What is the name of the image macro series that is an illustration of a Velociraptor paired with captions depicting the dinosaur as being deeply immersed in metaphysical inquiries or unraveling quirky paradoxes? A $10 gift card will be sent to one random student who can answer this correctly and send it to Cameron Griffith by April 22nd.

Our team represents the Arts & Sciences graduate students needs and concerns to the Graduate Student Council and the A&S administration. We also host professional development events, publicize news you would like shared beyond your department, and provide a forum for discussion on ways to improve graduate student life.
