Business Management

Weatherhead's business management major is a flexible program established to provide students foundational business principles that will position students for a broad range of career opportunities.

The Weatherhead undergraduate business management major grounds students in the functional areas of business for career preparation across a broad spectrum of industries. All students build a strong foundation in business management by taking required courses in economics, accounting, statistics, communication, leadership, marketing, and operations research and supply chain management.

As a business management major, you will build upon this foundation by selecting an area of concentration. The areas of concentration are:

  • Business Information Technology
  • Healthcare Management
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • International Business
  • Organizational Leadership
  • Supply Chain Management

Finance

The Weatherhead undergraduate finance program provides students with a solid business background and advanced skills for financial analysis while interacting on a personal level with some of the world's most distinguished faculty.

Students studying finance will complete coursework to obtain the necessary knowledge to be prepared for careers in banking, financial management, consulting, and other fields. The finance major (and/or minor) provides advanced skills and knowledge for financial analysis and decision making, including:

  • Understanding of global financial markets and valuationTheory and practice of financial modeling
  • Theory and practice of financial modeling
  • Advanced quantitative skills and application of financial analytics

Marketing

The Weatherhead undergraduate marketing program provides students with a solid business background and advanced skills for careers in marketing and management while interacting on a personal level with some of the world's most distinguished faculty. Rooted in the Department of Design and Innovation at Weatherhead—the first department of its kind—students will learn how to "think beyond the possible" when it comes to brand management, marketing strategies and sales.

Students studying marketing, will develop the knowledge to be prepared for careers in market research, brand management, business development, consulting, and other fields. Coursework is organized around the themes of Analytics, Customer Relationships, and Interactive Marketing. Students gain advanced marketing skills and knowledge, including:

  • Data collection and quantitative analysis with SPSS and Excel
  • Selling and sales force management
  • Consumer behavior, customer-firm relationships, and brand management
  • Digital marketing and e-commerce
