About Us
Kendo is Japanese for "Way of the Sword." It is the traditional Japanese art of sword-fighting. Kendo, like any other martial art, stresses personal, mental, and physical growth equally, and one may only get out of kendo what one puts into it. Membership in the Kendo club costs $25 per semester. Learning Kendo is a long process. Approximately the first two months of practices will be entirely footwork and cutting, no sparring. After that, students will test from one of our sensei to wear bogu (the armor) and begin practice against opponents. It will be at least another month before a student is ready for free sparring and competition.
