The Animal Legal Defense Fund Case Western Reserve Chapter is dedicated to providing a forum for education, advocacy, and scholarship aimed at protecting the lives and advancing the interests of animals through the legal system, and raising the profile of the field of animal law. The activities of the Chapter shall include, but not be limited to: hosting speakers on current issues in animal law, conducting educational events such as information tables and film screenings, volunteering at and supporting local animal sanctuaries and activists, and participating in Animal Legal Defense Fund’s student conventions.

The Association of Women Surgeons (AWS), founded in 1981, is a not-for-profit educational and professional organization. With over 2,000 members, both women and men, AWS is one of the largest organizations dedicated to enhancing the interaction and exchange of information between women surgeons. Truly an international organization, AWS has members in 21 countries.

The mission of the Association of Women Surgeons is to inspire, encourage and enable women surgeons to realize their professional and personal goals.

Goals:
To promote professional growth and development,
To enhance and facilitate interaction among women surgeons throughout the world,
To foster an environment supportive of personal values and individual diversity, and
To advance the highest standards of competence and ethical behavior.

AWS addresses the unique challenges that women surgeons face such as:
Balancing family issues with the demands of a surgical career, including when to have children;
Pay and promotion equity issues; and
The lack of women in academic leadership positions.
AWS has been a leader in providing mentorship at all surgical levels to both women and men.

The AWS Pocket Mentor was first published in 1993. Since then four updates have been published and nearly 50,000 books have been distributed to men and women medical students, residents, program directors, department chairs, libraries and schools. The AWS Pocket Mentor is also distributed at other medical conferences.
The American College of Surgeons recognizes AWS with a Governor position, as it does with other specialty organizations, thus communicating that we serve an important constituency.

The mission of the BME GSA is to enhance the community experience for Graduate Students within the Biomedical Engineering Departments at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). The organization should:
1) Organize and execute a series of events dedicated to promoting student-student interactions, as well as student-faculty interactions
2) Increase transparency and awareness regarding faculty and department organization and decisions
3) Communicate with other graduate student organizations to promote community building and inter-departmental collaborations to the benefit of the BME graduate community

All CWRU BME Graduate students both part and full time (including CWRU Biomedical Engineering students in the Cleveland Clinic) are members of the Graduate Student Association and entitled to all the rights and responsibilities therein. This includes:

I am a law student right now, I used to be a boxer in China about 10 years before I came to Case,Also, I used to be the IBF professional boxing referee and I and the youngest national boxing referee in China. I found our boxing club during I arrived here. I want to train with someones who are interested in boxing also, and there are so many Chinese students around me who are interested in boxing. So they asked me to create our club and send the class schedule to them, then we can schedule and book rooms for our class regularly. Thanks a lot.
