On the Move - Welcome to the Mandel School

Photo of Anne Marie KollanderAnne Marie Kollander joins the Mandel School as our Associate Dean for Development & External Affairs on August 12, 2019.  An executive nonprofit management professional, she enjoys a highly successful track record in building relationships with donors, establishing effective business strategy and implementing processes and procedures to enhance organizational performance.  She spent fifteen years in the nonprofit field, where she has led and coached development staff in charitable giving, donor relations, donor communications, and building awareness with potential donors and community leaders.  She served as the Director of Advancement at Hershey Montessori School, and has held senior development positions at the Cleveland Foundation, University Hospitals, and Hopewell.  Anne Marie graduated from Case Western Reserve University, focusing on Psychology and Business.  Her office will be in the Dean's suite.

On the Move - New Position

Photo of Kristen BoyerKristen Boyer will move from her Research Associate position at the Begun Center to become its new Department Administrator, handling the Center's day-to-day finances, grants management, and human resources functions.  Her first day in this new role is August 19, 2019.  She is looking forward to handling more of the "business" side of things as it relates to both grants/projects and the day-to-day operations of the Center.  Please congratulate Kristen on her new role.

Don't Miss: Mandel Center Technology Training

Over the summer, many Mandel Center spaces received all new equipment to bring us up to high-definition quality and to increase reliability.  Please plan on attending one (or both!) of the open houses below to receive hands-on training in using the new equipment.  Experts from [U]Tech will be at each session:

  • Tuesday, August 20, 2019, 3 - 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, August 22, 2019, 9 - 11 a.m.

Both sessions will be in Mandel Center, Room 105.

Please note that Mandel Center Classrooms 105, 106, 107 and Room 115 have been upgraded and will function identically.  Room 108 has not changed yet, but will be upgraded during Winter break.

The new equipment will work differently than the old, so we strongly encourage you to become familiar with the rooms.  In addition, all Mandel Center classrooms now have screen sharing, allowing any person (instructor or student) to share their screen (tablet, smartphone, laptop) with the group.  Please stop by and learn how to take advantage of this new technology!

Purchasing Reminders

  • Gift Cards:  Please be reminded all purchases of gift cards must be made through the University procurement system.  University policy will not allow any person to be reimbursed for a purchase of gift cards, for any reason.
Please review the Mandel School policy on gift card purchases.
  • Travel Receipts:  When booking travel, please be reminded that the University requires detailed receipts (e.g., for airline this means a receipt that details flights, destination, and payment).  The University will not reimburse for airline or other trip insurance.  Due to this, if a receipt for hotel and air is "bundled," from a vendor such as Expedia, and no detail can be provided, the University will not process the reimbursement.  This is because a "bundled" receipt does not provide the necessary detail and it cannot be demonstrated that the receipt doesn't include travel insurance or any other unallowable expense.  Please review the University's full travel policy.
