On the Move - Retirement

Dr. Patrick Boyle (Pat) retired from his role as the managing director of the Center for Evidence Based Practices (CEBP) on December 31, 2019. He received both his Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the Mandel School. Pat worked with CEBP for over twenty years, shaping its technical-assistance services to emphasize the importance of organizational consultation that helps service providers become self-sufficient with implementing, evaluating, and sustaining clinical innovations over time. He has also ensured that the Center actively promotes and supports inter-system collaborations that maximize service efficiencies. Service-system collaborators have included professionals and advocates from mental health, addiction services, vocational rehabilitation, health, housing, residential services, consumer advocacy, and criminal justice, among others.

In addition to his leadership at the Center, Pat brought his experience in research, more than 25 years of teaching, and over 35 years in direct practice, clinical supervision and administration in the fields of addiction, mental health, and employee assistance programs to the School. He was instrumental in the development of the Employee Assistance Program at CWRU. Pat has been an adjunct instructor at MSASS for more than 25 years teaching a variety of courses including Social Work Practice in Substance Use Disorders, Human Behavior, Social Work Practice in Dual Disorders, and Motivational Interviewing. For the past 10 years, he has developed and taught a course in Substance Abuse Disorders in the MSASS Netherlands Program. He has authored and co-authored numerous publications and training and technical assistance manuals related to implementation of evidence-based practices. In his retirement, he will continue teaching as an adjunct instructor at the Mandel School. Senior Research Associate and Mandel School graduate, Richard Kruszynski, has succeeded him as CEBP's managing director.
