In this issue:
 Maggie McGuire has been promoted to Research Associate at the Begun Center effective February 1, 2020. As part of Dr. Rachel Lovell's research team that focuses on gender-based violence, Maggie collects and analyzes quantitative and qualitative data and writes project reports and manuscripts for publication. In December, 2019, Maggie recevied her Masters of Public Health from the Consortium of Eastern Ohio Master of Public Health at Cleveland State University and successfully defended her capstone research on improving cultural competency trainings regarding treatment of transgender and gender nonconforming individuals in healthcare settings.
Please be reminded that an All-Staff google drive was set up last Fall to hold information shared at our All-Staff meetings. It contains the agenda and PowerPoint slides, as well as any other items presented at the All-Staff meetings. Occasionally, we may also use it to share other items of interest.
The folder is called "Mandel All-Staff" and can be found in your "Shared drives" section (see screenshot below). Or, click here to access. Please contact Craig Zullig if you cannot access this drive.
While the next All-Staff meeting on Thursday, March 19, 2020 has been announced, please note the following about the overall schedule and methods of communication:
- These meetings are scheduled every two months, and we occasionally switch between Thursdays and Fridays.
- Agenda will be distributed via this newsletter and posted to the All-Staff Google drive and, if necessary, in a separate email.
- A calendar invite will be sent in advance, making it easier for you to hold the date on your calendar. This was done for the first time with the March 19, 2020 meeting.
- While our preference is to see everyone in-person, there is always a Zoom option.
- Topics generally include:
- Introduction of new staff
- School news and announcements (e.g., updated/new policies, budget update, job openings)
- Presentation from a research group or department on their activities
- Presentation from the "academic" side (e.g., curriculum update, student survey results)
- Staff Working Group and/or Staff Advisory Council update(s)
- Upcoming School events

Lacking energy? Feeling blue? Having trouble sleeping at night and staying awake throughout the day? Stop by the Harris Library and borrow an LED energy lamp. Research has shown that people who use light therapy feel considerably better during the dark, winter months.
Energy lamps are available for students, staff and faculty to borrow for a period of up to four days. Please speak with a Librarian if you have any questions.
